Design Engineer

Your tasks

  • Lead all design-related activities for assigned programs across the full product lifecycle, with a focus on electric motor systems and components (from concept through production release).
  • Drive development of optimized design solutions, ensuring performance, efficiency, and manufacturability of motor-driven applications.
  • Represent design engineering in Development Team Meetings (EAK), ensuring compliance with Brose standards and customer requirements.
  • Participate in formal and informal design reviews (Design Checklists, DFMEA, specification reviews), with emphasis on motor performance, durability, and integration.
  • Ensure designs meet key milestones to support timely product releases.
  • Monitor and ensure product conformance to customer specifications, internal standards, and motor performance requirements.
  • Support validation of designs through analysis (e.g., FEA, force/performance calculations) and testing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to assess project capacity needs and support program execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers in motor-related design best practices, kinematics, and CAD systems.
  • Ensure adherence to the Product Development Process (PDP) throughout all phases.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 6–8 years of experience in automotive design engineering, with strong exposure to electric motor systems, actuators, or drive mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated experience in electric motor design, integration, or application within automotive systems (e.g., window regulators, seat systems, closure systems, or similar motor-driven products).
  • Strong technical skills including:
  • CAD Systems: CATIA V5, ENOVIA, Kinematics development and analysis, FEA and applying results to design improvements, Tolerance stack-up and GD&T, Performance and force calculation tools
  • Hands-on experience with motor-related systems such as actuation, torque/force requirements, or electromechanical integration strongly preferred.
  • Experience with braking, steering, or thermal systems is a plus, but motor expertise is the primary focus.
