Vehicle Kinematics Design Engineer

Your tasks
- Lead end-to-end design activities for assigned programs—from idea generation and concept studies to concept release—in close collaboration with the Project Engineer.
- Create design proposals and 3D CAD models (CATIA V5); prepare, check, and release drawings with full GD&T.
- Manage design changes from internal teams, customers, and suppliers; maintain clear documentation and version control.
- Participate in formal and informal design/engineering reviews; incorporate feedback to improve concepts and manufacturability.
- Define and refine product specifications with stakeholders; ensure compliance with internal design standards.
- Initiate and interpret engineering analyses (e.g., FEA) to validate concepts and guide design decisions.
- Verify customer requirements and interfaces; align boundary conditions between customer and suppliers.
- Identify IP considerations and support property rights evaluations.
- Guide and review outsourced design work; benchmark competitor products and integrate learnings.
- Work effectively under deadlines while balancing functionality, quality, and cost targets; represent concepts to customers and suppliers within your technical scope.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field; 5+ years’ product development experience in the automotive industry.
- Deep knowledge of vehicle exterior and interior kinematic mechanisms (e.g., hinges, linkages, motion systems) and their integration.
- Proven creativity in concept development and strong problem-solving skills across the product lifecycle.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings; solid command of GD&T and drafting standards.
- Sound understanding of materials (steel, aluminum, plastics) and manufacturing processes—especially stamping and injection molding; familiarity with sheet metal and plastics processing.
- Ability to initiate/read FEA results and translate findings into design improvements.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills; fluent spoken and written English (Chinese a plus).
- Proficiency with MS Office; organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
